The Portrait - 35mm Film

The world in this day and age often distorts our own view of ourselves and makes it harder to identify who we are without so many sources seeping in. Who are we separate from what we think we should be? This disunity could be because of our increased connection through social media, social norms/expectations, fads, etc. We have access to people’s opinions and idealistic expectations every second of every day, whether we want them or not. As more outlets fight for our attention and identity, there is increasingly more interruption between your genuine knowledge of yourself and how you want to be viewed.

Is it still about identity if the person in question isn’t truly clear? Oftentimes I believe this is how the media has taken away from our sense of self. If we are trying to be so many things to so many people/groups, then when does the person we make ourselves out to be become disconnected from the person that we actually are?
